Terriers 17S Off To Great Start In Quebec
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Thursday, September 9, 2010
The Terriers opened their five game series in Trois Rivieres with a convincing 12-7 victory over Estacades HS. Right hander Matt Wilcox struck out eight and went four and a third strong innings before leaving the game with a 7-1 lead. The offense was led by Averey Bet- Payumo, who had three RBIs including a two run homer over the left field wall. With the score 4-0 in the third inning, Travis Seabrooke laced a double off the left field fence for an RBI in the third to make the score 5-0.

The Terriers continued to tack on runs with two hits by Geoffrey Seto, and singles from Jonathan Palumbo, Toby Handley and Cal Quantrill (RBI). Matt Beaton came on to pitch the final two and one third innings to close out the win. In 18u action, the Terriers slipped by LaFleshe College 3-2, on the back of right hander Matt Faulkner. Matt threw a complete game four hitter for the win. Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, with two out, Eric Hall walked, stole second and scored on a Christian Fearon RBI single. (Christian had three hits on the night.) With the scored notched at two, Christian swiped second base and crossed on a clutch RBI double by Blair Gignac. The game was highlighted by several outstanding defensive plays by Mattingly Romanin. Both teams play a double header Saturday.
