Sparkplug Blair Gignac Earns Scholarship To West Alabama
Terriers centerfielder Blair Gignac committed to the University of West Alabama Tigers (NCAA D2) this past weekend. Blair caught the eye of Head Coach Gary Rundles on the Terriers final trip south this fall. The Tigers are one of the top teams in the Gulf South Coast Conference, and were looking to add more speed to their already potent lineup. Blair certainly fits the bill! He runs a 6.75 second 60 yard dash, and causes havoc on the bases for opposing pitchers and catchers.

Gignac was a team leader in stolen bases this past year because of his dynamic running game. During the Terriers recent five game stint at the University of West Alabama, Blair had a .500 on base percentage and swiped four bases. That impressive performance led to this scholarship offer from Coach Rundles. Blair's abilities are not limited to offense alone however. He is blessed with a very strong accurate arm and also does an outstanding job of tracking down balls in the outfield. Blair won the Terriers Gold Glove Award as a 16 year old, and did a tremendous job this past year patrolling centerfield for the SR Terriers. Blair will be studying Sports Management at UWA. The entire Terriers organization congratulates Blair and his family and wishes him the best of luck in all his academic and athletic endeavors.
