Brian Simone Named Gsc 1St Team Honors
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Thursday, May 19, 2011
The Gulf South Conference announced its 2011 All- Gulf South Conference team on Wednesday and Brian Simone earned First Team Honors. Brian was a unanimous selection. A member of the First Team in 2010 and the Second Team in 2009, Simone ended the season fifth in the GSC with 18 doubles. The Amherstburg, Ontario native led the UWA squad with a .359 average at the plate while driving in a team best 40 runs.

Collecting 56 hits, he also scored 40 times and Simone also led the team with 18 walks. Strong in the clutch, he was tops on the team going 25 for 56 at the plate with runners in scoring position. Brian was also a clutch performer for Ontario at the Canada Cup ( Gold Medal) and during the Terriers run to the World Series championship in the summer of 2006. Brian's play in Nashville really impressed West Alabama's Head Coach Gary Rundles. Coach Rundles has continued to be impressed by Brian's play and work ethic on the field and in the class room. During his time with the Terriers Brian was a great team mate and a pleasure to coach. Congratulations to Brian and his family on all of Brian's achievements.
