Junior Terriers Gold Take 3 Of 4 From Em

Game 1 starter Mathew Fiorini threw 3 innings giving up 1 run with 2 k's to get the weekend off to a good start. Tyler Valiquette winner, followed with 2 innings of 1 hit and 1 run and Daito Kojima closed the game with 2 innings on 4 k's. SS Chris Fisher going 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI's lead the way and DH Sam Turcotte hit the first home run for Gold at the new Kings Christian Collegiate field.

2B Grant Okawa and RF Austin Gomez each had 2 hits and Tak Tsurusaki with a 2 RBI single in the 8-4 win. Game 2 saw Mathew Brillert go 3 giving up 1 run and 1 hit, and giving way to the eventual winner Chris Fisher shutting down EM with 3 K's over his 2 inning of work without allowing a run. In the 2nd inning LF James McBride walked and immediately stole 2nd base and scored on 1B Tyler Valiquette first of his 2 run scoring doubles on this day. Also getting hits were CF Bailey Hantzakos, PH Austin Gomez and 3B Grant Okawa, with Mason Falbo closed out the final 2 inning giving up a run in a 7-2 victory. Game 3 saw starting and game winning pitcher Christian Lazar go 4 innings giving up only 1 earned run on 2 walks and 6 strike outs, but also gave up one long ball. 3B Chris Fisher continued his hot streaking with 2 hits and an RBI, but the big hit came in the 3rd inning with C Dean Angelo bases clearing 3 run triple and DH Jacob Sims also contributing a run scoring single in the inning. PH James Diflorio lead off the 5th with a triple leading the way to the final 2 runs for a 7-4 victory. Sam Turcotte got the save as he threw the final 3 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and 2BB. Game 4 was a heart breaking 2-1 loss as Gold could muster up only 3 base hits, with SS/C Daito Kojima and 2B James Diflorio each hitting a double. Down 2-0 in the 7th DH Tyler Valiquette was walked and Shane Clarke in to pinch run, PH Jacob Sims came in and singles to right putting runners on first and second. 2B James Diflorio puts down a perfect which causing EM pitcher to throw the ball away, scoring Clarke from 2nd base and moving Sims to 3rd and Diflorio to 2nd with none out, but that's all the Gold could do from tying or pushing the go ahead run on the board. Evan Lawrence and Tak Tsurusaki both pitched 3 innings giving up a run each, Lawrence 5 hits 3 k's and 3 BB and Tsurusaki gave up only 1 hit and 3 walks in his relief appearance. Player of the week: Chris Fisher 5/10 with a triple, 3 RBI, RS, SB and also pitched 2 scoreless innings and playing flawless defense this weekend. Pitcher of the week: Christian Lazar was the winner on 4 innings of 3 hits, 1 earned run, with 6 strike outs and 2 base on balls in a 7-4 win over EM of Montreal Quebec 17u team.
