Alumni Trevor Brigden Ks 15 In No Hitter
North Branch NJ - Highlighted by a Trevor Bridgen no-hit effort, the Lackawanna College baseball team started their 2015 Region XIX Division II conference play with a double victory over Raritan Valley Community College; winning the first contest 10-5 and claiming a victory in the nightcap by a 5-0 score. In the opener, the Falcons took a four run lead in the first two innings before Raritan Valley scored a solo run in the bottom of the second inning.

The Falcons then scored six more runs before the Lions scratched out their remaining four runs in the last two innings of play. Lackawanna's top performer was Joe Spitaleri. Spitaleri went three for four with a single and two triples, along with scoring two runs and driving in another two. Also making an impact were Eric Grabowski, who started the scoring with a two run homer in the first; and Sjaghbar Martis, who contributed a solo homer in the fifth. Both Arbely Soto and Domenic Oliveri added to the Falcons run total with two RBIs each. Winning pitcher for the Lackawanna nine was Tony Hernandez, his third victory of the season without a loss. Hernandez hurled a complete-game relinquishing five runs on nine hits while striking out seven. The second game was all Bridgen's, as he threw a seven inning complete-game no-hitter, striking out fifteen while allowing only three hitters to reach base, two by base on balls and one on an error. Soto was the nightcap's offensive star, as he went three for four with two singles and a double, while also scoring a run. Spitaleri continued his hot hitting from game one, as he went two for four, both singles. Nick Hogan also had a multi-hit day with two singles in four at-bats.
