Ben Abram Strikes Out Ten In 18U Pblo Debut
The SR Terriers opened their 2018 PBLO season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Ontario Royals at Kings Collegiate Saturday afternoon.
6'8" RHP Ben Abram got the opening day start and went the distance for the complete game win. Ben struck out ten Royal hitters and induced a lot of soft contact.
The Terriers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when speedy Austin Gomm beat out an infield ground ball to third.
He advanced to second on Dylan Johnson's flare to center field, then scored on Nolan Gallo's RBI sac fly to right.
The game remained tight through the third and fourth innings until the Royals scratched out a run in the fifth to tie it up at 1-1.
In the home half of the sixth Connor Humphrey worked a lead off walk, advanced to second on a pass ball, went to third on Ryan O'Halloran's ground out and scored what would be the game's winning run on Dylan Johnson's deep RBI sac fly to right.
The Royals mounted a rally in the top of the seventh and had what would have been the tying run thrown out at the plate by left fielder Sawan Bhatnager. That outstanding play ended the game.
