17s Split, 18s Clinch With 19-3 Record
After splitting their DH Saturday at Pan Am in Ajax the 17u Terriers were back home at Kings College on Sunday for a DH versus the Ontario Yankees.


In game one the Terriers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Connor O'Halloran rocketed a double to right, went to third on Jacob Mahoney's ground out then scored on Conrad Erasmus's flare RBI single that eluded the Yankee second baseman.

 

In the bottom of the third the Terriers put the game away with a five run rally.

Connor O'Halloran, Jacob Mahoney, Conrad Erasmus and Zach Saufl had four consecutive singles followed by walks from AJ Karosas and Logan Pelletier. They would all score in the inning. ‎6-0 Terriers after three.

 

After a Yankee run in the top of the fourth more Terrier offense followed in the bottom half when Zach Saufl launched a grand slam over the wall in right to make the score 10-1. Cellupica, O'Halloran and Mahoney were aboard for Zach's towering bomb.

 

The Yankees scored one in the sixth and three in the seventh to make the final score10-5. 

 

Liam Carey picked up the win on the mound. He struck out four in six quality innings of work. He gave up just one run. 

 

In the night cap the Terriers offense could not get on track as the Yankees came away with a 2-0 decision.

 

The 18u Terriers clinched the PBLO regular season title with a weekend sweep of London including 3-2 and  4-3 victories on Sunday. 

Saturday's scores in London‎ at Labatt Park were 10-4 and 7-2.

In game one Sunday Brayden Makowich lead the game off with a walk, advanced to second on Matt Ward's single and eventually scored when Dante Wright laced an RBI single through the right side. 

 

London tied the game at 1-1 in the third but the Terriers bounced back with two runs in their half of the inning.

Matt Ward and Austin Gomm set the inning up with a pair of singles then scored on Daniel Freeman's two RBI single to left. 

 

London made it 3-2 off starter Campbell Ellis in the sixth but Andrew Haynes closed out the seventh with a pop up and two strike outs.

Campbell had struck out five‎ and allowed just three hits in his six innings on the mound. 

 

In game two ‎lefty Will Yamka opened and recorded the game's first five outs. 

He was relieved by Owen MacNeil who pitched till the end of the sixth before giving way to Sam Worthen in the seventh.

 

With London leading 2-0 in the fifth the Terriers offense would finally come alive, striking for three runs. 

Andrew Johnston got the rally started when he smashed a one out double to the gap in left. 

Jamal Armstrong followed with a walk then both advanced on a Brayden Mako‎wich ground out. 

That set the stage for catcher Matt Ward's clutch two RBI double into the left field corner. 

Austin Gomm was next in, drilling an RBI single to left scoring Ward. 3-2 Terriers.

 

With two out in the top of the seventh London tied the game with a homer to right but Dante Wright walked them off in the bottom of the seventh with a bullet RBI into the right field corner. Makowich scored the winning run to seal the sweep. ‎

The 18s are in Ottawa next weekend.
