Terriers College Round-up
The 2020 College Baseball season kicked off this past week. There are currently over 35 Terrier alumni competing at various levels of college baseball south of the border.

Out in California the Orange Coast Pirates have already played 10 games. The defending State Champs ‎are off to a relatively slow start, garnering a 4-6 record, but have won two in a row. Sophomore Ryan O'Halloran has had 20 at-bats and is hitting an impressive .350.

Moving east, the Kentucky Wildcats opened their season in Fort Worth Texas versus #26 Texas Christian University. Congratulations to Elliott Curtis for earning lead-off hitting honors for the Wildcats. He had his first hit of the year on Saturday in a 7-1 loss to the Horned Frogs. The Wildcats play in the SEC, college baseball‎'s toughest conference. The schedule ahead includes a gauntlet of powerhouses such as defending NCAA D1 Champions #1Vanderbilt, the #10 University of Florida Gators, the #6 Mississippi State Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, #12 LSU Tigers, #9 Auburn Tigers, the #36 University of Tennessee Volunteers, #33 South Carolina Gamecocks, and the #4 Georgia Bulldogs. Wow!

The Stony Brook Seawolves were also in Texas to open their 2020 campaign. The Texas State Bobcats were hosting in San Marcos, TX. After a tight 4-3 loss on Friday night, RHP Sam Turcotte got the call to start Saturday's game. Sam kept the Seawolves close through five innings of work. He faced 21 batters, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits but the Stony Brook offense couldn't get going in what was eventually a 6-0 Bobcat win.

The biggest shocker in the nation came Friday night in Tallahassee Florida. The #14 ranked FSU Seminoles were hosting the Niagara Purple Eagles in front of 4,670 fans. With the Seminoles up 1-0 in the ninth, Niagara rallied for three runs and held on for the monumental 3-1 upset victory. Congratulations to catcher Joe Tevlin who weaved the Purple Eagles pitching staff through a potent Florida State line-up for nine innings. The Noles had just three hits.

The Canisius Golden Griffins have opened 2020 with a 1-2 record. They are in Holly Springs, NC for a three game series with UMass Lowell. The Griffs lost game one by a 12-7 score but secondbaseman Jacob Martins had a good day at the plate. Jacob was 2-4 with two runs scored.
