Linseman Lands Golden Scholarship
Terriers LHP Nathan Linseman had garnered a lot of interest over the past several months from a variety of NCAA Division 1 schools and in the end has committed to the Golden Griffins of Canisius. He will officially sign his Letter of Intent in November as per NCAA compliance.
Nathan had an outstanding 2007 campaign from early spring training games in Florida through the PBLO season and into the summer tournament schedule.
He compiled an 11-2 record, with an ERA of less than 2.00. Highlights include, several masterful innings in Boca Raton Florida on March Break against Junior College competition, and consistent, reliable outings throughout the PBLO season. His grittiest performances however were saved for the summer. Nathan started the Terriers tournament winning roll with a 2-1 victory in the Championship final game over Team Quebec at the Toronto Elite Tournament. His second tournament outing in Montreal ended early when he took a vicious line drive off his left shoulder from a New Jersey clean up hitter, but the determined Terriers’ ace lefty bounced back a couple of weeks later and beat a powerful East Cobb GA. team in Nashville at the World Series. Not done yet, Nathan donned the Provincial jersey at the Canada Cup in August and pitched the Ontario Youth Team to a 6-1 victory over Saskatchewan in pool play. It was another vintage Linseman performance, striking out 11 while only walking one on three hits.
Canisius Head Coach, Mike McRae, believes Nathan can step right in as a freshman and help the Golden Griffins get back to the NCAA D1, MAAC Conference tournament for the second consecutive year. Canisius College has now recruited 5 Terriers in the past 3 years (LHP Mike Goemans, OF Ian Choy, RHP Chris Cox, 1B Brian Burton). The Terriers organization is thankful to Coach McRae and his staff for their past and ongoing support.
Nathan is a tremendous team mate and also brings levity to the dugout! Comedy is not part of the course curriculum at Canisius so Nathan will study Business Management beginning next fall. The Terriers are very proud of Nathan and congratulate he and his family on this great accomplishment.
