Terriers Rhp Jas Rakkar Signs With America East Champion, Stony Brook University
Jas Rakkar is armed with an 88mph fast ball and a knee buckling curve! With that type of pitch ability you will impress a lot of college scouts and recruiters.

Jas is the latest Terrier prepared to join the ranks of college baseball in 2009, when he will don the red, white and blue uniform of the defending America East Champion Stony Brook Seawolves (NCAA Division 1). Rakkar and a couple of his Terrier team mates were invited to a Blue Chip Prospects pitchers only, showcase in Long Island NY this fall. That day he caught the eye of numerous Division 1 coaches, which lead to official visits and scholarship offers from several US Universities. Jas is only the second Canadian pitcher to ever sign a Letter of Intent with the Seawolves. He joins team mate Tanner Nivins (OF) and Terriers alumni, All American Freshman, Chad Marshall (2B) at Stony Brook University. The Terriers 2008 fall schedule was loaded with tough competition and Jas rose to the occasion every time he took to the mound. Highlights include six shutout innings versus Gennesee CC. On that rainy day he struck out ten and walked only two. Rakkar's dominance continued in Arizona with his best outing of the fall, another strong five shutout inning performance against the New Mexico Military Institute. Locally, he simply mowed down 18u competition. Jas is joining Stony Brook at a very exciting time for the institution. Seawolf alumni and Minnesota Twins closer Joe Nathan recently made an enormous monetary donation which will result in a new state of the art Astroturf stadium and clubhouse. Not a bad place for a young man to pitch for the next four years! The Terriers organization is very proud of Jas and would like to congratulate him, and his family, on this tremendous scholarship opportunity. Jas will be studying Business Finance at Stony Brook. The Terriers would also like to thank Stony Brook Head Coach, Matt Senk and recruiting coordinator, Joe Pennucci for their past, present and on going support.
