Tavis Bruce Signs With Ncaa D1 Njit Highlanders
Right handed pitcher, Tavis Bruce, has the desire to study engineering.

This past week he signed his National Letter of Intent with one of the top engineering institutions in the United States, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) of the Great West Conference. Tavis is an honors student and NJIT will offer him the academic challenges that will lead him to his engineering degree. It will also give him the opportunity to pitch at the NCAA D1 level after his career with the Terriers comes to a close late next summer. Armed with a mid 80's fastball and a deadly curve, Bruce was a major cog in the Terriers starting rotation this past fall. He had several quality outings against 18u and college competition alike. He is mature beyond his years, and an excellent team mate with leadership qualities. These qualities impressed pitching coach Chris Reardon of the Highlanders and he looks forward to having Tavis join his staff. Tavis was a perfect 2 and 0 during the Terriers fall trip to Mesa Arizona. He also pitched 6 innings of 2 hit ball in the Brawl in the Fall Tournament, recording a victory. Further, on a quick trip over the border he threw three shutout innings versus Monroe CC. In 2008 he had a sparkling 1.46 ERA and did not record a loss in PBLO play. During spring and fall trips to the Carolina's Tavis had a perfect 7 and 0 record against high school and college competition. With those kinds of numbers and that kind of record, the entire Highlanders coaching staff are confident they have an excellent recruit in Tavis Bruce! NJIT's six schools and colleges enroll more than 8,200 students in 33 bachelor's, 40 master's and 19 doctoral degree programs. The Terriers would like to congratulate Tavis and his family on this tremendous scholarship.
