Sunday Sweep Moves Srs Record To 16-2
The Terriers took two hard fought games from the Toronto Mets on Sunday at Bond Park in Toronto. Right hander Jas Rakkar went five innings in game one, which ended in a 10-9 Terriers victory.
Graeme Carey led the way offensively with three hits for three RBIs. Kevin Nickel got the Terriers an early 2-0 lead with a towering two run homer in the top of the first. A collection of hits by Tanner Nivins, Brent Mitchell and Nathan Loehle in the middle innings added to the Terriers lead.
Chandler McLaren added some insurance runs with a clutch two RBI double down the right field line in the top of the seventh to put the Terriers up by five. The scrappy Mets rallied in the bottom half of the inning, but Jeff Hunt came on to snuff the rally for his sixth save of the year.
Game two belonged to lefty Billy Ralston. He would allow just two hits through five innings of work. Once again Jeff Hunt would come on for the save in a 4-2 win. Catcher Aaron Wagner had two hits in this one, including an RBI double to the left center field gap. Kevin Nickel and Nathan Loehle also had RBIs.
