Langley Blaze Burn Terriers
Kamloops, BC BEST OF THE WEST TOURNAMENT The much anticipated showdown between two of the top teams in the country went right down to the wire with the Langley Blaze pulling out a 5-4 victory over the Terriers. Lefty Billy Ralston had the ball for the Terriers and pitched into the fifth inning before giving way to Connor Smith. Langley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Terriers answered with a run of their own after Blair Gignac walked, advanced to third on an Anthony Vacca double, then scored on a sac fly by Brandon Dailey. The Blaze made the score 4-1 in the fourth and threatened to put the game away in the fifth, when they loaded the bases, but Connor Smith induced a 6-4-3 double play to keep it close. In the home half of the inning the Terriers rallied for a pair of runs on a 2 RBI double by shortstop Brandon Dailey after Mattingly Romanin and Cole Peragine had singled to set the table. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Graham Tebbit pounded a triple to the right center field gap. Christian Fearon came on to pinch run for Graham and he scored on a productive ground ball out by catcher Adam Godo. 4-4 after six complete. Unfortunately the game slipped away from the Terriers in the top of the seventh when the Blaze scored the game winning run on a ball that went to the backstop. The next game of the tournament is Saturday morning versus the Parksville Royals.
