Lucas Scocchia Selects Oakland University
Right hander Lucas Scocchia has earned a very deserving baseball/academic scholarship to Oakland University (NCAA D1) in Michigan. Lucas and his father have been on several campus visits over the past few weeks, pondered the offers, and have decided the OU Golden Grizzlies would be the best fit. Lucas has been the Terriers most consistant pitcher over the past two years. His mid-high eighties fast ball and sharp curve guarantees the Terriers a quality start every time out.

He has also come out of the bullpen on several occasions, snuffed opponents rallies and sealed Terrier victories. He throws strikes, has excellent mound presence and competes hard. Those qualities really impressed Grizzlies head coach John Muscahio. Oakland University is located in Rochester Michigan. The picturesque town of 11,000 is home to the OU campus, three inland waterways and is surrounded by green space. The Golden Grizzlies compete in the NCAA's Summit Conference, which takes them through states such as Illinois, Utah and the Dakotas. Lucas was named Terriers top pitcher at 16u in 2009, made the jump to the senior team this past year, and had another stellar season. The Scocchia's reside in Thunder Bay, so Lucas has had to make the trip down to southern Ontario on countless occasions, thus allowing him to pursue his baseball and academic goals of this US college scholarship. Simply amazing individual and family committment! Over the past two summers Lucas has also pitched for the Ontario Youth Team at the 17u Baseball Canada Cup National Championship. Selection to that team for two consecutive years is a rare accomplishment. The entire Terriers organization congratulates Lucas and his family and we look forward to his continued development before arriving on campus next fall to major in Business.
