Versatile Mattingly Romanin Inks Div 1 Scholarship
The parade of Terriers that will be landing on a Division 1 US University campus next fall got a little longer this week when "jack of all trades" infielder Mattingly Romanin committed to Chicago State University (NCAA D1). Mattingly was recruited by the Terriers out of bantam baseball, and has consistently been a top performer for the program over the past three years.

He has played second, third, short, the outfield and to his credit took on the difficult challenge of being a multi position player like a pro. Romanin is a gap to gap hitter, he hits for average, and had the knack this past season for driving in runs in clutch two out situations. Mattingly has been invaluable to the Terriers program throughout his career in blue and gold, and the organization would like to congratulate he and his family on this latest accomplishment. The Chicago State Cougars play in the highly competitive NCAA Great West Conference. The picturesque 161 acre campus is home to 7,200 students and is located in a residential community just south of downtown Chicago. It is rich in history, as the present campus location dates back to 1870. Mattingly's tremendous work ethic and desire to learn are attributes that will make him an integral part of the Cougars roster. Academically, Mattingly will be studying Physical Education at Chicago State. Down the road he has the intention of becoming a strength and conditioning Athletic Trainer. *Please continue to log onto our website, as several Terriers have been on campus visits this fall.
