On The College Front - Week 2
Here is a look around the college scene at former Terrier players: At the USA Baseball Complex In Cary NC, Lefty Nathan Linseman recorded his first win of the 2011 season. Nathan went five strong shutout innings in a 7-6 Canisius College victory over the University of Toledo. Nathan came on in the fifth inning, faced 19 hitters and allowed just 3 hits. Righthander Billy Martin came on in relief in game one versus Toledo, went 3.1 innings and picked up the win in a 6-5 nail biter.

Billy struck out four and allowed just one hit for the Golden Griffins. Big first baseman, Brian Burton (1B) went 2-4 with two RBIs in a 4-1 Canisius victory over the Creighton University Bluejays. The Golden Griffins have 5 Terrier alumni on their current roster. The Griffs are off to a great start, winning three of four in North Carolina. Catcher Tyler Patzalek collected 4 hits and 4 RBIs in the University of Maine's opening series in Las Vegas versus UNLV. The weekend set was close, but the Black Bears were swept by the Runnin' Rebels. At Volunteer State, Graham Tebbit secured his second consecutive save of the young season in a 4-1 Pioneers win over the Wallace State Lions. Catcher Brent Mitchell had a hit and a run scored in a University of South Alabama win over U of T (Martin). The Jaguars swept the three game weekend series. Brian Simone is picking up where he left off last season for the University of West Alabama Tigers. In six games so far, Brian is hitting .317 with 9 RBIs and 9 runs scored. The UBC Thunderbirds wrapped up their nine game swing through California with a 4-5 record. Kevin Nickel collected eleven hits and nine RBIs (.334) during the long season opening road trip.
