16U Terriers Advance To Quarter Finals
The 16U Terriers advanced to the quarter final game of the LIDS Bulls Midwest Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. After dropping their first game of the tournament 13-9 to the Cincy Flames on Thursday night, the Terriers reeled off three straight wins to finish 3-1 in pool play, scoring 41 runs in their four games. Friday afternoon saw the junior Dogs take on the Indiana Venom who were fresh off a perfect 6-0 record at the Freedom Classic last week.

Lefty Bruce Yari took the mound and dominated 6 innings, scattering 3 hits and striking out 10 to lead the Terriers to an 8-2 win. Hee Do Kim, Kyle Thalheimer, Bruce Yari, Pat Coughlin, Tyler Hardie, and Nick Wideman all had hits with Coughlin’s being a 3 run double. In the night game, the Terriers defeated the Anderson Heat 13-4. Kevin Lucas got the start and lasted 4 2/3 innings recording 5 strikeouts. Wes Siekris made his second appearance of the day and struck out 2 of the 6 batters he faced. Kim reached base in all 5 plate appearances and scored 3 runs to go along with his 2 singles. Thalheimer and Logan Stewart led the 14 hit offensive attack with 3 hits apiece while Zach Choy hit a 2 run home run to right centre field for his third of the season. Needing a win on Saturday morning to guarantee themselves a spot in the top 8, the Terriers took down the Indiana White Sox 11-3. Kim continued his dominance at the plate with a 3-3 day with a run scored, while Yari, Coughlin, Hardie and Choy each had two. With the Terriers down 3-1 in the bottom of the third, Nick Wideman delivered a two strike, two out single to tie the game. Kim followed with his third single of the game to score two more to put the Dogs ahead 5-3. The Terriers tacked on one more in the fourth and 5 more in the fifth and finished the game with an 8 run mery.
