Srs Fall In Championship Game Of Labour Day Tournament
Welland, ON - The SR Terriers got their fall season off to a great start at the Brock Labour Day Classic, with four wins over the older college and university competition, however lost in the final Sunday afternoon, a 6-2 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Laurier went undefeated in the tournament. Toby Handley singled, stole second and eventually scored in the top of the first and again in the top of the third to give the Terriers an early 2-0 lead. The Golden Hawks struck back for four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead. They tacked on two more in the fifth en route to the tournament win. The Terriers victories came over McMaster University (7-1), St.Claire College (17-2), Humber College (2-0) and Brock University (8-0). Righthander Mike Morely got the win versus McMaster. The offense was lead by Nick Dimpfel, TJ Baker and Turner Spears-all with two hits. Zack Sardellitti chipped in with an RBI double. Travis Laitar got the win over St.Claire, then Dayton Dawe followed with the shutout victory over Humber College. Aaron Loder had a triple and Robert Grilli had two hits including an RBI in the 2-0 nail biter. TJ Baker recorded the win in the semi final over host Brock University. He would go five solid innings before giving way to Brock Beirness who pitched the sixth and seventh. Nick Dimpfel and Cal Quantrill both had two hits while Turner Spears, Robert Grilli and Zack Sardellitti all chipped in with one each. The SRs are off to Monroe College next weekend.
