Jake Osborne's Three Run Homer Paces Jrs Over Tampa Black Sox
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Thursday, March 8, 2012
Center fielder Jake Osborne did not take long to get into the swing of things this spring, as on day two of the Terriers March break trip he hit a mammoth three run bomb to lead the JRs to a 12-11 victory over the Tampa Black Sox.

He also had two singles in the contest. The 17u Terriers smashed 12 hits in all. Cal Murphy( 1B,2B,2BB,4RS) Marcus Dicenzo(1B 1B 2BB), Hee Do Kim (1B 1B) and Nick Wideman (2B 2B GWRBI) each had two, Pat Coughlin added a triple, and Kyle Thalheimer chipped in with a single. Trevor Brigden got the start on the mound and gave his team three solid innings of work. The 16u Terriers also came out on the winning end on day two. Nav Cheema Jacob Krieger and Garrett Jewel all pitched in a 9-4 Terriers win over St Marks Academy (MA). The offense was lead by Liam Wilson with two hits and two runs as part of an eight run fourth inning offensive explosion. Matthew Plut, Stephen Clewer, Kirk DeKock also had hits. Luke Tevlin and Paul Gibson had clutch two out RBIs in sophs first victory of the spring. They will play WI Academy (FL) on Saturday. The SR Terriers had a double header with Macomb College (MI) on Friday at Al Lang Stadium. Brock Beirness started game one and went three shutout innings for the Terriers. He struck out four and allowed just one hit. Unfortunately the game unraveled for the SRs and Macomb rolled to a 6-2 victory. Trailing 6-5 in game two, and down to their last out of the game the Terriers scratched out a tie. Turner Spears kept the game alive with a single through the five-six hole. Geoff Seto was next in, and was hit by a pitch. That set the stage for shortstop Robert Grilli, who smacked an RBI single up the middle to tie the game. Toby Handley and Aaron Loder each had another great day at the plate with three hits. Nick Dimpfel ,TJ Baker, John Palumbo, and Bruce Yari all had one against the elder college pitching. Action continues in St. Petersburg on Saturday.
