Terriers Advance To Championship
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Saturday, September 1, 2012
The SRs Terriers Blue defeated the Brock University Badgers 8-2 Sunday morning at the Labour Day Classic and have advanced to the championship game for the second year in a row. The 10 team tournament included university and college teams such as York, Laurier, St. Clair, Guelph, McMaster and Genesee College from Batavia New York. Six foot six inch right hander TJ Baker put his team mates on his back against a very potent Badger offense that came into this semi final game undefeated.

He went the distance, striking out 6, while walking just 2. He allowed 5 hits, all singles. The relentless Terriers offense struck early and often and continued to tack on runs throughout the game. In the top of the first Toby Handley started a three run rally with a lead off single. He advanced when Kyle Thalheimer was hit by a pitch, then scored on a RBI sac fly by Liam Wilson. Thalheimer and Luke Tevlin would also score in the inning on a shot up the middle by Jake Osborne. With a 4-1 lead in the fifth, the Terriers broke the game open with three more runs. The big blow came off the bat of Marcus Dicenzo, a clutch two out two RBI laser through the right side. Joel Brophy and Jake Osborne scored on the play. The Terriers smashed 11 hits overall, highlighted by multi hit, multi RBI performances from Toby Handley, Luke Tevlin, and Jake Osborne. The final goes at 2pm. Update... 4:00pm, Sunday September 2, 2012 The Laurier Golden Hawks defeated the Terriers 6-1 in the final.
