Jr. Terriers Gold Goes 2-1 In Opening Weekend
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Saturday, September 8, 2012
Game 1 vs Junior Terriers Blue 1B Mason Falbo had a double and a run scored while SS Grant Okawa chipped in with a single. RF Matthew Brillert had the only RBI for Gold on this day. On Sunday vs TBA 2 Team Gold found themselves down 2-0 early. The scored remained until the bottom of the 6th when Gold got their first run of the game, 1B Mason Falbo lead off with a single, followed by CF James McBride's walk.

Both runners advanced on a passed ball before 3B Chris Fisher hit a sac fly to right to score Falbo. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th, SS Grant Okawa walked and LF Austin Gomez reached first on a fielders choice and with 2 out Falbo kept the inning alive with his 2nd single of the game scoring Okawa. That set the stage for Jacob Sims' single to right center scoring the winning run. Tyler Valliquette went three innings before giving way to Hantzakos and Lazar, who recorded the win. In the last game of the day, Team Gold won their second consecutive game by walk off with a 6-5 win over the Terriers 15U Development team. Evan Lawrence lead off the third with a single and LF Takuma Tsurusaki walked, to put men on first and second for SS Daito Kojima who ripped an RBI single to score Lawrence and 3B James Diflorio's sac fly to score Tsurusaki. Bailey Hantzakos capped off the 3rd with an RBI single of his own. In the fourth, Matthew Fiorini drew a walk and stole 2nd base before Tsurusaki was hit by a pitch. Daito Kojima then laced a double to right center to make it 5-2 Gold. With the score tied at 5-5 in the top of the 7th Tsuruaski made an outstanding diving catch and C Dean Angelo picked off a runner at 3rd base with 2 out to preserve the tie. In the bottom half James Diflorio and Tyler Valliquette drilled back to back doubles for the 6-5 win. Shane Clarke chipped in with a single while Matthew Fiorini took the win with one inning of relief.
