16U Blue Sweeps Weekend Series
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Saturday, May 25, 2013
The 16u Terriers came away with a perfect three for three weekend in Rome NY. The games were well pitched and marked by excellent discipline at the plate, highlighted by several timely hits. In game one, a 6-1 win, right hander Duncan Jakubowski went five strong innings, allowing just two hits. He struck out five Thunder batters. Drew Valade came on in relief for the sixth and seventh to close out the game. Elliott Curtis lead the offense with three hits including a double and two RBI.

Center fielder Sharan Rasan was on base four times and had a double. The balance of the ten hit attack came from Drew Dickerson, Nick Dunnington, Zarley Cina and Mitchell Bond. In game two Ryan Acuri got the start on the mound and he would give his team six quality innings. He gave up just one hit, while striking out five. Dalton Harvey closed out the seventh in this 5-2 Terrier victory. Elliott Curtis, Drew Valade, Robert Wilson and Matt Vollmer all had hits in the win. The Terriers completed the weekend sweep Sunday morning with a 4-2 decision. Lefty Robert Wilson struck out seven Thunder hitters through four innings of work. He was relieved by Dalton Harvey, who wrapped up the game on the mound with six Ks. At the plate, Sid Elford was one for one with two walks and a HBP. Elliott Curtis had another hit in this game, rounding out a tremendous weekend, with five hits, three RBI and stellar play defensively. Both 16u Terrier teams will practice this week, then compete at the Can/Am Border Battle in Williamsville NY next weekend.
