Baker, Beaton Take Down The Empire
Rochester, NY TJ Baker's gutsy pitching performance Sunday afternoon propelled the SR Terriers into the championship game of the CNY Thunder Wood Bat Battle.

TJ gave his team five innings on the mound, had a hit and scored the Terriers first run in a 2-1 nail biter played at Rochester University. The Empire State Elite team struck for a run in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead, however the Terriers rebounded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. TJ lead the bottom of the third off with a sharp single, advanced to second on a Liam Wilson single, then both runners moved up on an perfect sac bunt by Callum Murphy. TJ tied the game on a Logan Stewart fielders choice, then Murphy scored what would be the games winning run on a Jake Osborne RBI single. Jake had two hits and a stolen base in this one. Matt Beaton entered the game in the top of the sixth, retired the heart of the Empire order, then slammed the door on the victory in the seventh. It was his second save of the tournament. The Terriers will play for their second consecutive tournament championship late Sunday afternoon.
