Srs Win Third Tournament Of Summer
Rome, NY The SR Terriers capped off their summer by winning 21 of their last 23 games including winning the CNY Thunder Summer Classic tournament Sunday afternoon in Rome, NY. The Terriers were a perfect 5-0 in the sixteen team tourney, defeating the Syracuse Americans 5-1 in the championship game. In the second inning of the final Cal Murphy reached on a walk, advanced on a pass ball then scor

ed on a clutch two out, two strike RBI single by Logan Stewart. The SRs added to their lead in the bottom of the third when Marcus Dicenzo scored on a Toby Handley RBI to make the score 2-0. Luke Tevlin made it 3-0 with a home run in the bottom of the fourth. Luke hit a 1-0 pitch that bounced off the top of the fence in left for the solo shot. That would be all starter Jacob Kreiger would need as he cruised through five innings of work allowing just three hits and one run en route to the victory. The Terriers added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth on RBIs by Kyle Thalheimer and Cal Murphy. Matt Beaton picked up the six out save. Matt retired six of seven batters he faced, while striking out four.
