The College Beat
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Sunday, February 16, 2014
The 2014 college baseball season kicked off this past weekend. Here's how some Terrier alumni opened the 2014 campaign: * Freshman RHP TJ Baker of the Salt Lake Bruins picked up his first college victory. TJ threw four innings in a 12-4 win. Teammate Robert Grilli is off to a great start at the plate, hitting .400 after four games. * Outfielder Jake Osborne of the Maine Black Bears made his college debut versus #13 Miami Hurricanes.

Jake went 2-3 with an RBI. SR alumni Brian Doran was 3-9 in the series that saw Miami win two of three. * Freshman Cal Quantrill earned Friday night honors for the Stanford Cardinal. They opened the 2014 season against the Rice Owls. Cal went 4.2 innings, struck out six and walked just one. Rice won the weekend series two games to one. Cal will face the Texas Longhorns next weekend in Austin TX. * RHP Eric Hall started his season against McNeese St. He allowed just one run in four innings of work for the Chicago State Cougars. Third baseman Mattingly Romanin was 2-5 in the game.
