Salt Lake CC Sophomore INF Robert Grilli made a big impact on the weekend against #22 College of Southern Nevada with a 3 run homerun. Grilli finished the weekend with six hits and five RBI.
Grilli’s teammate, TJ Baker was outstanding on the mound for the Bruins, going 4.1 innings with six strikeouts, one hit, one earned run and no walks.
Stanford Freshman Cal Quantrill had his best outing of the season throwing a complete game shutout against Kansas on Sunday afternoon in Palo Alto, CA.
Quantrill dominated the Jayawks, limiting them to just four hits while striking out seven and walking only two. Quantrill worked quickly to keep the hitters off balance – the game took just two hours to complete.
Brian Doran had five hits including two doubles for the Maine Black Bears during their trip through Florida last week. The Junior is hitting .288 and has started every game this season.
Junior Infielder Cole Peragine had three more hits for the Stony Brook Seawolves in a weekend sweep over Fordham.
Chicago State infielder Mattingly Romanin is hitting .302 this season and collected three more hits on the weekend against Northwestern State. Teammate Eric Hall picked up the win in one of the games, throwing 6.2 innings.
Bruce Yari had five hits against Lewis Clarke State, as his UBC Thunderbirds split their four game series against the #2 ranked team in the NAIA. Yari is off to a hot start, hitting .318 on the young season.
Geoff Seto of the Niagara University Purple Eagles collected hits against Temple and Vilanova on the weekend and has started every game this season as a Freshman.
