Srs Advance To Second Round
The SR Terriers advanced to round two at the Premier Baseball National Championship with a 7-6 defeat of the Nebraska Sluggers. Lefty Robert Wilson got credit for the win. He allowed just two hits.
Daito Kojima lead off the bottom of the first with a double that short hopped the fence in left. After Luke Tevlin was hit by a pitch, Kyle MacDonald hit a thundering home run that easily cleared the wall in right.
Following the homer Jake Sims and Andrew Dickerson drew back to back walks. Nathan Lewko was next in and he singled to load the bases for Robert Wilson who snuck a ground ball through the 5-6 hole scoring Sims and Dickerson. In all the Terriers would count six runs in the inning.
The Sluggers made there way back into the game by the fifth inning, closing the gap to 6-4. Hayden Wasylenchuk came on to pitch in the fifth, and escaped a jam that left runners at second and third, however two more Slugger runs in the sixth and seventh tied the game at 6-6.
The Terriers pulled out the game in the bottom of the seventh when with two out Austin Gomez doubled to the right center field gap, then scored on Grant Okawa's game winning RBI single to right.
The tournament continues on Friday.
