Terriers Defeat 7Th Ranked Team In Us
On Thursday morning the 18U Terriers faced arguably their toughest opponent of the season in the East Cobb Astros at the Sandlott World Series in Nashville, TN The perennial powerhouse our of Marieta, GA is ranked 7th nationally amongst elite travel teams. The Astros had outscored their opponents 39-0 in the first two games. After giving up an early 2-0 lead, the Terriers responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half.

The lead wouldn't last long, however, as the Astros tacked on more runs to take a 6-4 lead. The Terriers would eventually tie the game heading into the bottom of the seventh. Elliott Curtis led the inning with a walk then advanced to second on a balk. After being bunted over to third by Foden the Astros would intentionally walk Dickerson and Jacob Sims to load the bases with one out bringing Okawa to the plate who proceeded to hit a sac fly to centrefield to score Curtis from third and complete the 7-6 walk off win. Lefty Christian Lazar pitched a complete game and was outstanding. Curtis finished 2-3 with 2 runs, SIms finished with 2 hits including an RBI double and Zarley Cina added two of his own while Foden added a triple. The Astros will get a shot at redemption with a re-match in tomorrow's elimination game at 11:30am. The Junior Terriers dropped the first two games of their tournament but picked up an 8-0 win over the Cincinnati Stix to punch their ticket to the next round. They will face Louisville Elite Red at 10:00am.
