Terriers ‎ March To Championship At Diamond Nation In Nj
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Thursday, August 23, 2018
Matt Ward drove in Austin Gomm in the bottom of the sixth in the College Elite Showcase Tournament at Diamond Nation in New Jersey and the Terriers squeezed out a 3-2 victory over Team BC to claim the prestigious end of summer championship. The Terriers went 5-0‎ on the week, out-scoring opponents 23 to 3. Terriers pitching and defense was outstanding en route to the title. Game one was a 2-0 ‎win over In the Zone Knights.

RHP Owen MacNeil was brilliant , going the distance to record the victory. In game two, Andrew Haynes had the ball versus the Manalapan Braves and he would fire six excellent innings before handing the ball off to Karlis Mikelsteins who closed out a 3-0 Terriers win. After 5-1 and 10-0 victories over the Staten Island Orioles and Long Island Elite, The Terriers found their way to the championship game with a perfect 4-0 record. Campbell Ellis went five innings versus the Orioles for the win. Michael Stremlaw tossed the final two innings in that victory. In the 10-0 mercy over Long Island Elite RHP Stephen Phillips ripped through five innings of shut out ball for the win. This was the Terriers first major event of the 2018/19 cycle. They will continue their fall schedule with games versus Canadian and US University teams‎ before wrapping up at the end of September in the North East Classic in Boston.
