Submitted By Dan Thompson on Saturday, March 9, 2019
The 18U Terriers opened Spring Training in St. Petersburg with a hard fought 4-3 victory over IMG Academy (FL).

IMG scored a run in the bottom of the first for an early lead but the Terriers answered with a pair of runs of their own in the top of the second.
Christian Bottero worked a walk which was followed by singles from Jamal Armstrong and Zach Marriott.
Elijha Hammill was next in and he smacked a come backer to the mound that ended up in center field, scoring Bottero and Armstrong. 2-1 Terriers.

With a run in the bottom of the second and another in the fourth IMG pulled ahead 3-2.

In the Terriers sixth, Marriott laced a single to left, then Brenden McQuinn  reached on a hit by pitch.
That set the table for catcher Matt Ward who ‎belted a single to right for two RBI and a 4-3 Terriers lead.

RHP Sam Worthen came in ‎to pick up the save in the seventh.

Terriers pitching was outstanding in this contest. Campbell Ellis threw 2.1 innings and had four strike outs.
Michael Stremlaw allowed just one hit in 2.2 innings, while Jordan Howse fired the sixth and had a strike out.

Austin Gomm and Ethan Sanasie-Edwards‎ also had hits in the win.

The 18s will practice Saturday morning then take on the Florida Super Stars in the afternoon.
