The
16u Terriers moved their Spring Training record to 5-1 with a well played and
very well pitched 4-3 victory over Titans Baseball (VA).
Lefty Ethan Magloughlin got the nod on the mound and went five innings, allowing just one hit.
He was relieved by Julian Russell who struck out three.
The Terriers scored two in the bottom of the second. Evan Farrell slashed a single up the middle then advanced to second on Cam Pollard's walk. After Kawshik Murali reached on a fielder's choice, Andrius Jurenas walked to set the table for a clutch two out line drive two RBI single by John Filice.
The Terriers added a run in the bottom of the fourth when Liam Bavington laced a single to right, stole second and eventually scored on a pass ball.
The Titans got on the board in the fifth with a run, then added two runs in the seventh, to tie the game at 3-3.
Cue the heroics.
John Filice led off the bottom of the seventh by smoking a ball at the Titan short-stop which he could not handle.
Isaac Sinning moved John to second with a perfectly executed sac bunt then Matt Brown drilled a single off the Titan pitcher's leg, advancing Filice to third.
Noah Mitchell would provide the game winning RBI with a solid shot to left for the 4-3 victory.
