Zach Marriott Earns Scholarship
Submitted By Dan Thompson on Saturday, January 18, 2020
Congratulations to the entire Marriott family on Zach's recent commitment to continue his education and baseball career at Hendrix College in Conway Arkansas. As a three year veteran now, Zach has been the model Terrier both on and off the field. He carries himself with poise, maturity and class beyond his years, qualities that have endeared him to his team mates and coaches alike.

On the field Zach is one of the most versatile players in the history of the program. He has played all four infield positions, possesses above average hands, quick feet and an accurate arm. ‎Without question, Zach has been a major cog in several Terrier championships over the past few seasons.

Hendrix College was founded in 1876 and is a four year private liberal arts college that is home to 1,120 students from 37 states and 10 countries. It profiles academically on an extremely high level with an average SAT score of 1252 (Nat'l avg: ‎1059), 28 ACT (Nat'l avg 20.7) and 3.8 GPA.

The Warriors compete in the NCAA Southern Athletic Conference. They were 30-14 in 2019, and won the conference championship title. They have earned a Top-25 2020 Preseason Ranking from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. ‎Hendrix will open their 2020 campaign in 20 days at Grand Prairie Texas versus Texas Lutheran.

Zach has been an honour roll student for 4 consecutive years at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. He is an Ontario Scholar and also garnered a certificate of completion in extended French.

On the athletic side, Zach was named the MVP of his high school baseball team in both 2018 and 2019. His biggest high school sports honour‎ however was the St. Thomas Aquinas Raider Award which goes to the SR student who is a multi-sport athlete and a great teammate who demonstrates outstanding leadership and sportsmanship skills.

Last year Zach was named the 18u Terriers inaugural John Jepson Award which encompasses such qualities as generosity of spirit, dedication to improvement and academic achievement.

Zach will be studying Business and Economics at Hendrix.

Continued success to Zach with all his future endeavours.
