Quantrill Shines at Little League Classic
Former Ontario Terrier right hander Cal Quantrill led Cleveland to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in the annual Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Sunday night.

In a game that featured Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani, it was the Canadian hurler that stole the show. Quantrill tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits, a pair of walks and struck out nine to pick up the win.

The crowd of 1,832, most of which were young ballplayers in town for the Little League World Series, created a special atmosphere.

“It was almost more nerve-wracking throwing for a bunch of pre-teens than it is regularly,” Quantrill said. “But this is a really cool event and getting to play in front of these kids — they took a little time out of their schedule playing games, and coming to watch us play is pretty cool.”

The Stanford Cardinal grad has hit his stride in 2021. He owns a 4-2 record with a 3.04 ERA over 109 2/3 innings. In his last seven starts he's 2-0 with a minuscule 1.47 ERA.
