College Player of the Week: Hugh Pinkney
It was another good week for former Terriers on the college baseball circuit with catcher Hugh Pinkney leading the way.

Pinkney went hitless on opening weekend but the freshman bounced back in a big way in Week 2 of the Division I season.

During a 5-4, 10 inning win over George Mason he went 2-for-5 with a RBI. Against Ball State, a game the Scarlet Knights dropped 5-4, he had a hit. He closed out the week with a 2-for-4 performance and was hit by a pitch in a 6-4 loss to Boston College.

Pinkney has hit second in the lineup in all six games this season.

Rutgers will play a three-game set this weekend at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Honourable Mentions

Niagara University got their season underway with a 2-1 series win at Norfolk State. Catcher Matt Ward drove in two and was hit by a pitch in a 8-5 Game 1 loss. Game 2 saw him collect a hit in a 6-1 win. In the finale he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and three RBI as the Purple Eagles downed the Spartans 14-4 to take the series.

Innings eater Sam Worthen picked up the win for D'Youville University with three scoreless innings of work in a 9-6 victory over Mercyhurst. He allowed one hit and struck out three.

Sticking with D'Youville, Kyle Nash worked a scoreless inning of relief and struck out one in an 8-7 loss to Glenville State.

Elijha Hammill pounded out four hits in three games as the University of Utah went 2-1 on the weekend. He also walked and drove in a pair.

Liam Carey picked up Muskingum University's first win of the season with two innings of relief. The right-hander gave up two runs on three hits, walked two and struck out one in the Fighting Muskies 7-4 victory over Defiance.

Right-hander Evan Harrison locked down a 20-13 Gannon University win over Tiffin with 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with a walk and three punch outs to earn the save.

Zach Marriott had a hit and drove in a run in Hendrix College's 6-1 win over Washington University.

Infielder Austin Gomm had a hit, two walks and stole a base in two games for Parkland College.
