Terriers 17U win Sabre Cat Wood Bat World Series
The Terriers 17U added to their trophy case this past week by winning the Sabre Cat Wood Bat World Series in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The team got their tournament underway with a 9-4 victory over The Show Baseball.

Jason Green and Spencer Francescutto led the offence with a pair of hits each. Green drove in a pair and Francescutto collected three RBI.

On the mound it was Cole Philips who tossed six innings and allowed four runs on four hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

The winning ways continued in Game 2 against the Indiana Mustangs.

Tommy Anthony went the distance, giving up five runs (one earned) on six hits over seven innings. He issued a pair of walks and fanned nine.

Offensively, Daniel Anderson, Green, Rocky Johnson and Matthew Tan all collected a hit.

Next up was a 6-6 tie against the Tigers Baseball Club where Anderson, Trent Black, Johnson, Keygan Miksa and Tan fuelled the offence with two-hit games.

Looking to get back in the win column, the Terriers turned the ball over to Russell Kwinter against the Dayton Sluggers. Kwinter threw all four innings and conceded one run on two hits in a 13-1 win. He worked around five walks and struck out five.

Anderson, Black, Johnson and Francescutto all had two hits. Black also drove in three.

The next game would be much closer, ending in a 2-1 Terriers win in a rematch with the Mustangs.

Right-hander Lucas Bridger threw a complete game, yielding one run on five hits with three
walks and three strikeouts to pitch his team to the semifinal.

Awaiting them in the semifinal was the Hit Dogs West Side.

Marcus Delos Santos powered the team with two hits and Griffin Adams and Ryan Opresnik combined for a seven inning shutout to punch the team's ticket to the championship game.

In the final, the Terriers stroked nine hits and got six innings from Philips in his second start of the tournament en route to a 9-1 victory over TC Baseball Dearinger.

The 17U's will now head to the Prospect Select Northeast World Series in Philadelphia, Penn beginning July 20.
