When the annual Canadian Futures Showcase returns to Rogers Centre next week, four Terriers will be taking part.
Left-handed pitcher Jack Perry, left-handed pitcher Brett Crowley, right-handed pitcher Stiaan Henning and infielder Steven Trkulja will participate in what’s become a marquee event on the Canadian amateur baseball calendar.
Perry, who was among the first 50 players selected, will play for Team Grey. Crowley will suit up for Team Navy, and Henning and Trkulja will be teammates on Team Red.
The event begins on Monday, Sept. 15 with a welcome dinner, followed by a scout day and two games on Tuesday.
Ten more games will be played on Wednesday and Thursday before the showcase wraps up with a home run derby and the championship game on Friday.
Throughout the week, players will be evaluated by numerous college recruiters, Canadian national team coaches and professional scouts.
A former Terrier is also playing an instrumental role behind the scenes this year.
Geoff Seto took over as the executive in charge of the showcase from T.J. Burton earlier this year.
As the new Toronto Blue Jays program manager for amateur baseball, the Niagara University alum is responsible for the planning and execution of the event.
